Looking for something to keep the kids entertained? How about a (mostly) walking tour of Wellington with Hobbit costumes along the way? Across Wellington, in iconic places like Kirks and Te Papa as well as the major hotels, you'll find selected costumes from The Hobbit trilogy.
Most of the costumes are in the centre of the city at an easy walking distance from each other. I wouldn't recommend having a car for these as it would be inconvenient. The last two sites (of five costumes total) are in Miramar and at the airport. But they are easy enough to reach by bus. As an added bonus you could visit the Weta Cave to round out your day.
